Twelve fire engines and 81 firefighters and officers are attending a fire at an industrial unit of two floors on Midland Terrace in Park Royal.

Most of the two storey building is alight and crews are working hard to stop the fire from spreading to nearby units.

Station Manager Dan Hallissey who is at the scene said:

"Around 10 people have been evacuated as a precaution from nearby homes. There is a lot of thick black smoke in the local area so we're asking nearby residents to close their doors and windows."

The Brigade was called at 0840. It was brought under control at 1.45pm.

The cause of fire is not known at this stage.
