The Ealing Central and Acton MP, Angie Bray, is hoping to set up a meeting with the Mayor's Office following last night's decision to approve the Oaks development.

Councillors narrowly voted to give the go-ahead for the controversial scheme - which does not have the support of many of the local community.

Ms Bray says:

'' It was obviously very disappointing to see Planning Consent for the Oaks Shopping Centre development pushed through last night.

''I don't feel that sufficient attention has been given to the local community, many of whom have strong views and a fair amount of expertise too.

''They have waged a very effective and powerful campaign and have demonstrated a wide range of supporters, including politicians from all sides of the political spectrum.

'' I think the most useful thing I can do now is to see if I can arrange for some of the campaign members to put their case directly to the Mayoral team at City Hall and I have already been in touch to see if we can find a date."
