Protestors release balloons to highlight concerns

An impromtu demonstration against the proposed Oaks development took place in Acton on Saturday (26th October).

Critics say the controversial plans - which have been approved by Ealing Council - will create a huge gated community which they believe will adversely affect businesses and residents in the area.

Around 100 people turned out to the site despite being given only 36 hours notice.

The idea was to raise balloons to the height that the proposed new building would be but wind conditions prevailed so the black balloons were released instead to form a symbolic dark cloud over the area where the development wll go ahead.
