Acton's McDonald's Gets The Red Ribbon Treatment

Refurbished fast food restaurant has gone hi-tech

Acton Mc Donalds opening

McDonald’s in Acton has undergone a digital transformation.

Local franchisee Atul Pathak has invested in the fast food favourite and turned it hi-tech.

Instead of ordering at the counter as previously, new kiosks have been installed giving customers the option of browsing the menu and (if they so wish) they can also check out the nutritional information of each meal. Customers pay by card or contactless at the kiosk, and then pick up their order from the counter. In the kitchens, new lay-outs and increased technology means McDonald’s products can be made specially to order for customers.

Free to use tablets have been installed at some tables for those who want to check their newsfeed and emails or play the latest games.

McDonald’s franchisee Atul Pathak OBE started his career 32 years ago and now runs 26 restaurants across London, including the Acton restaurant. He said:

''We’re thrilled with the transformation because we’re committed to offering our customers’ more choice and fast service.

''Technology has a huge role to play in all walks of life, including our customers’ eating out experience, so the new tech we’ve introduced recognises the way people live their lives today. The response to the changes from my team has been very positive and they are enjoying the new ways of working. To ensure we continue to create an outstanding customer experience, I am also continuing to invest in my people through our industry-leading training programmes and career opportunities.”

The restaurant was officially opened by Harbhajan Kaur Dheer, Mayor of Ealing who said: '' It is great to see such investment being made in Acton High Street and the confidence that it gives to potential investors as they witness  the commitment that McDonald’s and franchisee Atul Pathak has shown not only to the future of his own business but to the whole of Acton.”

Also in attendance at the opening were Ealing Council Leader Cllr Julian Bell and Deputy Leader Cllr Ranjit Dheer.

Cllr Julian Bell, Leader of Ealing Council,  said: ''Acton is being transformed with its new leisure centre and library and plans for a new shopping centre and cinema.  The council is doing everything possible to attract investment to ensure that the town centre continues to thrive and prosper. The improvements at McDondald’s demonstrate the confidence that the business community has in the area and show a real commitment to the high street''.
