Acton To Hear The Great Heathrow Expansion Debate

Churchfield Community Association will host meeting

All Acton residents are welcome to attend an open meeting to hear the pros and cons of expanding Heathrow airport.

Heathrow Third Runway Decision Postponed for Six Months

It had been expected that a decision to the recommendation from the Airports Commission of another third runway would have been made by the end of last year, but the Government delayed it calling for more work to be done on the environmental impact of expansion both at Heathrow and Gatwick.

The opposition argued that the postponement was political with the Conservatives anxious not to force the resignation of Zac Goldsmith, the Richmond MP who is standing for London Mayor.

The meeting in Acton next week will hear from both sides of the debate: Tony Caccavone will put forward the views from the Heathrow Expansion Programme and John Stewart, from Heathrow Association for the Control of Aircraft Noise (HACAN) will outline the arguments against.

It will take place on Wednesday 27 January 2016 7.30–9.30pm at St Mary's Church Hall, Acton (opposite Morrisons)

Anyone can attend the open meeting – not just CCA members – but capacity is limited so get there early to be sure of a seat.
