Be it services provided by the NHS, work and training opportunities or Ealing Council decision-making. There is a new world of social media and digital democracy, which many of us do not know about or can use.

South Acton’s Ward Forum is funding a three-day intensive course on basic computers and social media for a limited number of local people to enable them to access online services.

Who is it for?


- People living in Acton that are aged over 60, adults with learning difficulties or disabilities or people not in work or employment.
- Those who can commit their time to attend all three days of the course

  • By the end of the course each person attending
     
    * Will know the basics of keyboard and most commonly used software such as Word.
    * How to use the internet and Email
    * How to search for information using Google
    * Learn how to book mark favourite websites

Computer basics Theory and Practice

Morning Session: What is the Internet? Internet service providers and broadband, how to buy something online.

Day 3: Thursday 20th February 2014

Morning Session: introduction to Social media (Facebook, Twitter) and Skype
