Volunteers are needed in Acton to help a new project which cooks healthy meals for the community from surplus food.

Foodcycle

FoodCycle is an award-winning national charity that combines volunteers, surplus food and spare kitchen spaces to create nutritious meals for people at risk from food poverty and social isolation.

There are 38 projects running throughout the country and the latest to launch is in west London based in East Acton at Old Oak Community & Children’s Centre.

Mary McGrath, CEO of Foodcycle said, '' We are so pleased that FoodCycle East Acton will soon be running a weekly FoodCycle meal, our first project in West London. For many of our guests, a FoodCycle meal is the one chance a week they have to sit down and share a meal with others and I urge anyone who is looking for a tasty meal and good company to join us.''

The projects can't operate without volunteers and an urgent appeal's gone out for anyone local to lend a hand.

You don’t need to have any previous cooking experience, although foodscycle say if you do that is very welcome!
