New modern surgery in refurbished estate open for NHS patients

A new state-of-the-art dental surgery has opened in the regenerated South Acton estate.

When Dr Ghassan Al-Shaikh Radi heard that his Acton Town Surgery in Hanbury Road was due to be demolished as part of the huge redevelopment he was concerned, however he's now delighted with its £500,000 makeover, a key feature is high end plant-life created by Kew Gardens. 

An open day for the public has just been held which culminated in a ceremony with Ealing Deputy Mayor Cllr Abdullah Gulaid, Cllr Praveen Anand and Rupa Huq MP all present to cut the ribbon. Demonstrations took place with guests enjoying healthy snacks including nuts and fruit – no tooth destroying sweets on this occasion. 

Dr Radi who also has a surgery in South Ealing said, "I wanted to create a unique environment that is accessible to the whole community. My ultimate goal of providing an advanced, high end and complete dental service for everyone, will not be achieved if the NHS does not acknowledge the vast increase in demand for NHS dentistry in the area and the efforts that we have made to meet them! The ball is in their court, I hope they will help us to access the necessary funds to allow the most vulnerable in our community to be cared for."
 
Rupa Huq MP said, "The regeneration of South Acton has come on apace in recent years so that it's almost become unrecognisable from the place it used to be. This dental practice is a part of that process. I’m delighted to be opening this state of the art surgery today which is the culmination of a lot of blood sweat and tears and wish the team and Dr Radi (who’s my own dentist and indeed all my family’s dental history!) well.”

It's located on a new parade on Bollo Bridge Road which also includes a Sainsbury's.

The siting on the South Acton estate has extra significance as it is home to Nelson Mandela House, Del Boy’s Tower block from “Only Fools and Horses” - not actually in Peckham.
