Acton Man Murdered in Cemetery

52 year old man has been charged

A man has been charged with killing an Acton man who had been attending a funeral at the City of London Cemetery.

Peter Charles John, from East Acton Lane, was found unconscious after being stabbed in the neck at the cemetery in North Boundary Road on Wednesday at 2.17 pm.

He was taken to hospital by air ambulance but later died.

Father Tom O’Brien, from Our Lady of The Assumption Church in Bethnal Green, where the funeral service took place, told the Evening Standard he was “deeply shocked” by his death.

John Nicholles, 52, of no fixed address, has been charged with the murder of Mr John and was due to appear in custody at Thames Magistrates’ Court earlier this week.
