Volunteers in Acton who help an animal charity have raised £100,000 since it started 10 years ago.

Mary Lancaster and others have run a bric a brac and clothing stall at Acton Market every Saturday to raise funds for Blue Cross's work with cats and dogs.

This month it's been revealed that the stall will have raised a staggering £100,000 since it started 10 years ago.

John Blackmore, Chief Executive of Action West London, a  charity and social enterprise which runs Acton Market said:

' Mary and her volunteers first started with 1 stall and 1 table and raised £50 on their first day 10 years ago. They are really dedicated and run their stall every saturday throughout the year. We are delighted to assist them with our Market . Not only do they raise funds to help animal welfare -- but they also provide a service for the local community with the vast range of items they sell at  bargain prices. Come along and show your support for this great local charity.'

Donations of bric a brac and other items are always welcome.

Contact Mary  0208 723 8375 or drop things off at the Market  at the Blue Cross stall (opposite Morrisons entrance) on any Saturday.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.
