The founding Principal of a new Acton School - the Ark Soane Academy opening in September 2020 - has been announced.

Jo Facer has been named as head. She has held senior leadership roles at several well-known schools including Ebbsfleet Academy in Kent, Michaela Community School in north London and Ark Globe Academy in south London. She is a graduate (BA and MPhil) of Trinity College, Dublin and earned her PGCE from Canterbury Christ Church University.

Ark Soane will open in new purpose-built facilities, on the site of the current Ealing Hammersmith & West London College on Mill Hill Rd, London, W3 8JH. There will be 180 places for the founding cohort of year 7 pupils.

“Founding Ark Soane Academy is a dream job,” says Ms Facer. “Throughout my career, I  have been lucky enough to see how schools can transform the lives of children and their communities. I could not be more excited to establish a school at the very beginning of its journey. I am so excited to meet the Year 7s who will join as our inaugural cohort in September 2020. Together we will create a school of which we can all be proud.”

Parents and students interested in finding out more about Ark Soane Academy year 7 admissions will have the chance to meet Ms Facer in person at one of several open days scheduled for September and October. To find out more, visit arksoane.org

Ark Soane Academy is named after Sir John Soane (1753 – 1837) a renowned architect who designed the Dulwich Picture Gallery and the Bank of England, where he worked for 45 years.
